30 Hour Famine

I'm participating this weekend as an adult helper. It's a very popular event for our youth group and I'm excited to see what is in store. We had our informational meeting last night and today I have to prepare for leaving Fishing Guy in charge of the kids all weekend.

Oddly, most of that prep seems to revolve around food.

Have a good weekend!

Bushed

I'm beat and I'm in need of a vacation.

This week was busy.

Monday - I helped in The Princess' Classroom. I got a very nice, but somewhat frantic phone call from her teacher on Sunday afternoon asking for some crafty help finishing up Valentine's boxes. The Prince does fine in the class, so he gets to come along. Fishing Guy had a follow-up appointment at the oral surgeon's office for his wisdom teeth and then we did a little shopping.

Tuseday - Valentine's Day. I got the kids to school with their required goodies and then took the taxes in to H&R Block. We are getting a nice refund, but I could have done the prep myself and saved the $166 it cost for me to be there 10 minutes... I headed back to the school to help in The Prince's class. I also took a detour to get some flowers for all the teachers - 5 vases and some carnations to make my own arrangements. Fishing Guy had another appointment at the oral surgeon's office in the late afternoon and we stopped at the tax office to have Fishing Guy sign the papers on the way. I ordered Chinese for dinner and Fishing Guy ate when he got home.

Wednesday - We went to the downtown library for a field trip with The Princess' class. Again, The Prince came along for the ride. We rode down with another mom and her two boys in their van, so that was more entertaining than usual. The Princess went on a playdate after school and The Prince and I met Fishing Guy for lunch and bought my new computer. We picked up The Princess and her friend Maddie from Maddie's mom and I brought them to the house to play for the afternoon, while I madly switched out the computers. After Maddie left, I made dinner and Crafty Neighbor and the kids came over. Fishing Guy was working late, preparing for inventory and Trooper was out on a boat for the start of crab season. We had a sucessful AWANA class and I started feeling crappy right after the last kid left. I barely made it home in between bathroom stops and we live less than a block from the church.

Thursday - The kids went to school and I wallowed in the crappy feeling all morning, while installing programs on the computer. I managed to shower and get to the playgroup, so I could sit and knit for 3 hours in relative peace. Crafty Neighbor had a rough playground day and we ended up cancelling the meeting that was scheduled for that night.

Friday - We took The Princess to school and played while we waited for the cable guy to come and install the digital cable. The Prince watched cartoons and I made The Princess' birthday invitations. As soon as the install was done, we went to get The Princess from school. My friend came over in the afternoon and I helped her get her 416 pictures off her camera card, burned to CD and some prints uploaded to Sanpfish and ordered. We had pizza for dinner with the neighbors and played some cribbage.

Saturday - I really tried to be lazy all day, but it just didn't work. I worked a bit more on the computer (big surprise) and Fishing Guy was home about 10 am. I made a couple of scrapbook pages in the morning and paid bills. Crafty Neighbor hosted a baby shower in the afternoon and we got home about 8:30 pm. Fishing Guy and I watched the Olympic coverage and I went to bed at 11 pm.

Sunday - I'm not technically missing church yet, but we are planning to take a quiet day off.

I'm so thankful the kids don't have school tomorrow either. The Princess has her birthday on Tuesday, which means treats for class and then the party in the afternoon. She chose to go ice skating this year. The Prince has PJ's and Pancake's Day on Tuesday too. Wednesday is our anniversary and I have AWANA that night. Friday night through Sunday morning is 30 Hour Famine at the church and I'm helping out with that, since Fishing Guy already has the time off.

I'm off to go veg on the couch and knit another dishcloth. Oh yeah, Pez - I really do love to use them. I've also been giving them away to a couple people that love them too. They are super absorbant and soft.

If I am missing...

I will be back soon!

Fishing Guy bought me a new computer today and I will be trying to get it set up. I don't anticipate any problems, but we all know how that goes.

Happy Hump Day!

Things are better

I went to the bank yesterday morning and worked out a suitable solution. Fishing Guy did NOT buy the before mentioned list of things and I finally got him on the phone and told him not to shop. Things were a little tense over the weekend, but not like they might have been.

Fishing Guy is still on nights. Today is day 8 in a row. He'll work until Thursday morning, have his last 2 wisdom teeth pulled and then take Friday and Saturday off of work. Inventory is next week, so I'm not overly optimistic that he'll be working less before his vacation.

The kids and I are starting to get colds again. The Princess is miserable today, totally congested and cranky. The Prince doesn't seem to be as affected and I'm just starting to feel sniffly.

I've had a productive morning and I'm planning a quiet afternoon. I got the pantry shelves sorted in the garage, did some laundry, sorted the bags for the thrift store, put up shelves and baskets for my nightstand and dresser, cleared out a couple of huge pile of crap that I've been tripping over for a couple of weeks and wrapped the birthday gifts I bought for The Princess yesterday. The Princess has a dentist's appointment for 2 more sealants in about an hour. After that, I plan to curl up on the couch and finish my book.

I've been knitting dishcloths in the evenings (since Fishing Guy's been sleeping during the day and I can't be on the computer or at my craft table) and I'm averaging one a day. They are addictive little things and also very useful. I don't feel like I'm wasting my time.

I best go and get my ducks in a row for the rest of the afternoon.

Timing

I hate that when I have the spare time to update here lately, I'm in a pissy mood.

Today it is the bank. To make a long story very short, they are holding an $8000 check from my mom for 12 business days. Because it is over $5000 and it's an out-of-state check. My mom has NEVER written a bad check in her LIFE.

I should be able to have my money by the 22nd. No, seriously. Today is the 3rd. We will get paid again and should have our tax return by then too.

That also means that the $800 in Dr. bills I stopped to pay right before hitting the drive-thru at the bank... Yeah, I know. Make the deposit first.

Nevermind that Fishing Guy is (probably as I type) spending close to $1000 on an air hockey table, two card tables and two bikes. I can't get him on the phone to tell him the bank won't give us our money.

Of course, it will be all my fault when he gets home.

Have a great weekend.
