"Who's up for Round 2!"

I went and messed it up by saying that we were on the road to recovery. My parents were here for a visit last week and they went home sick too.

Anyway, the last couple of weeks in pictures.

Anyway, back to the grind.

Friday

We are on the road to recovery. Finally.

That being said, the day I was dreading after moving to Alaska has arrived.

I got a phone call about noon from a woman I know. I have her daughter in my Cubbies class, both of her kids go to Sunday School with my kids and I was introduced to her by a friend of a friend. Other than that, I don't know her very well.

Anyway, her husband is a commercial fisherman and his boat went down this morning. They found pieces of the boat, an empty survival suit and a deflated life raft, but both men that were reported on board are still missing. I met him once, about a month ago.

She called me to start the prayer chain at church so we could pray him home.

I feel so helpless because I don't think they will find either of them alive.

I fear what this will do to her and her kids.

I worry about how she will view our church after all of this.

I'm afraid I will do or say the wrong thing when I see her again.

I don't know how to accept that horrible things happen for reasons we might never know. I don't deal with death well and actually knowing the person is very hard for me.

So, as you are going about your day, say a prayer for this family. They are going to need them.

Blech...

The Princess stayed home today too. Still with a low-grade fever. The Prince started puking last night about 4 am. I'm starting to feel a fever coming on.

Back when we are all healthy.

Please wash your hands...

Oy, what a weekend.

Friday night, The Princess got what has been going through her class. She started puking at 9 pm and was miserable all night, even though she only threw up once more about 10:30 pm. I ended up sleeping on her floor to keep an eye on her.

Saturday was very long, we were up at 5-something and she managed to get a bite of Jello down before she threw up again about noon. I thought we were home free, but she still was not herself and still had a fever. I had basically no sleep, so I was just a ball of fun myself. She slept better last night, only getting up every three hours instead of tossing all night long. That involved me sleeping for an hour in my bed (Heavenly at this point), The Princess coming all the way downstairs, both of us going back up to her room and me curling up on the end of her bed until she fell asleep again - about an hour. Wash, rinse and repeat at least three times.

The obvious news is that we missed church today. The Princess still has a low-grade fever, but managed to eat today and keep everything down. I think we will be calling in from school tomorrow morning too, based on this evening's temperature. She's got a fever rash on top of everything else that's driving her nuts with itching. It was the Benedryl that knocked her out this afternoon and she finally slept well for a couple of hours. Of course, she isn't tired now...

In the rest of my world, the Iditarod started today. The ceremonial start was yesterday and they headed out for good this afternoon. I'll be doing the updates on my other blog as soon as I get to it.

We have a pretty light week, with my parents arriving Sunday night. I'll do my best for posting here too.
