"White Caps in the Hot Tub"

The Prince was super excited last night for his first fieldtrip this year. To the beach.

I lay in bed about 6 am this morning, listening to the freight train sounds of the wind in the trees and feeling the pillows vibrate where they were touching against the prevailing wind wall, and dreaded standing out in the weather on the beach. With my stuffy sinus issues and lack of energy for anything. Nevertheless, I got everyone ready for school and hiked into The Prince's classroom, ready for the inevitable.

We were going to Our Backyard* instead. Ha!

The kids didn't seem to mind too much and I know I was relieved. So the class is there playing now and I get a couple of bonus hours to myself. I just have to go back to take my group back to the school. I'm going to gather the library books - due today and return them while I'm there too, since they are just a few steps away.

I might even take my knitting and iPod and sit for a while.

*Our Backyard is Juneau's version of a Chuck E. Cheese. Think MUCH smaller and more expensive. Just like Juneau.

I think I can...

I'm trying to hide out this morning and get some things done, but it's not working.

So far, I've answered the door twice and talked to two neighbors. There are benefits and drawbacks of having a close neighborhood.

Anyway, I went on a retreat this past weekend, which was lovely. The highlight for me was singing in the chapel, from the choir loft and no one laughed at me. Much like Katie posted a while back, I have a singing issue. Mine, however, is that I was told I couldn't sing and I actually can. I'm not wonderful, but I'm not the one standing out in the crowd either. Since we moved here, I've had a few opportunities to sing in public and I've loved it. The chapel has just been the best so far.

There are so many random things going on that there is no way to make a cohesive post out of them and I really ought to get back to the things I'm trying to get done...

Week in review

How is it that a week can go by and I don't realize it?

Last week:

Thursday - Supper Six. Dinner was a hit. We played Uno Attack and laughed really hard.

Friday - Good Friday. I cleaned out the white car. We sold it for $100 the night before. The driveway is back to housing only two cars. We had a couple of boys over for a playdate while their parents finished moving into their new house. I'm so glad we stopped at two kids. The people came to pick up the car at 8 pm -- about 4 hours after they said they would be by. So much for my nap...

Saturday - We attended the city egg hunt on Saturday morning, which I will probably never do again. The "registration fee" is $5 per child - ack! The kids each got 9 eggs and The Prince was in tears because he didn't get any extra after they declared a free-for-all. Some kids had sacks full after the first "7"... Our age group was the last to be started and by consequence were the last ones to the prize tables. The Princess chose from 3 light sabers and a Batman game. She chose the Batman game, which compared to The Prince's bag of jelly beans, caused considerable strife. We walked home amid threats of turning around to give all the candy back.

Saturday night, I did Easter Story Cookies with the kids before we went to bed. Yummy!

Sunday morning - We were all up bright and early for the church potluck breakfast. I had to be there at 7 am and we made it about 7:20 am. Fishing Guy was off the night before, so it was nice to go as a family. We had breakfast, went to the 8:30 am service and then to Sunday School. We were home by 11 am!

Fishing Guy took a nap, in preparation of working that night, while we all went next door to color eggs with Crafty Neighbor. The kids had a great time doing that and then Crafty Neighbor and I hid eggs for the backyard hunt.

What a blast! The kids each had assigned colors and it was the longest egg hunt we've ever had. We had dinner together that night and the kids crashed soon after everyone went home.

In other news, I am now sick. The Princess is still sick and The Prince is feeling better. I haven't really seen Fishing Guy, so I can't comment. The remodel has started at Fred's and they are understaffed, so he's been working nights again. That tends to make me cranky after a couple of weeks.

Spring!

It is coming!

The kids have been playing outside and riding bikes and wearing short-sleeved shirts.

That also means that it is the season that I wish I had a laptop to take out to the yard...

We did a hike out to the waterfall at the Glacier last week and I actually got sunburned. I'll have pictures to share sometime this week.

The Princess is spending the morning at a Dance Clinic, put on by the High School Drill Team. We go back for the show in a couple of hours - with the video camera.

The Prince has another cough and cold. Poor guy. We stopped at Fred's on the way home and I bought him a new Thomas playset, the aquarium cars and the magic mining car - so everything would be equal this morning. He's happily building a track right now on the newly mopped kitchen floor.

I have a Ladies Tea to hostess tonight at church. We made it a theme tea and everyone is wearing aprons. I'm taking The Princess with me and that meant that I had to make aprons for BOTH kids this week. I totally made up a pattern and the kids love them. It is also my turn to help with children's Church tomorrow.

This next week is crazy. There are two birthday's, one of which I have to find a gift for. There is a fieldtrip on Tuesday, which I might not drive for. The kids are dying eggs in class on Thursday. Friday night the church is showing The Passion of the Christ for Good Friday, while the kids watch Prince of Egypt. Easter is a big Fellowship Committee Day. We are having a potluck breakfast, before the early service and then there will be a picnic at one of the beaches. We will have a family egg hunt in the afternoon with Crafty Neighbor's family. I have the kid's gifts purchased and kids chose egg colors for the hunt yesterday. The Princess has a new dress and a hat to wear and as usual, I have no idea what I'm going to wear.

I quit my vendoring job, there was no benefit for me anymore. Plus, my plate was getting a little crowded...

We are going on an actual family vacation this summer, to visit my parents in Wyoming. We will be through Denver and maybe head up to Montana as well. Fishing Guy really wants to dry-fly fish and I want to go visit my aunt and uncle in Bozeman. Yellowstone will be a day trip at the very least, if not a short camping stop.

My time is up - I'll try to be back soon.
