Packing has started...

The packing is about 1/2 done. They have been very nice to me and have left the computer until one of the last things.

They should be done packing today and will load tomorrow at the latest.

We will be in Washington Saturday night. My cell phone will be the contact number for now, since they will be packing the phones soon too.

I'll see you on the other side!!

Still Here

What a crazy time! Just popping in for a quick minute, while the kids are quiet and I've got a few moments to collect my thoughts.

This move is using every one of my many coping skills. We just today talked to the relocation person and she didn't seem at all concerned that we have to be out of our rental by August 1st. Because they told us they need the house back so a family member can move in and we didn't even get a chance to tell them that we were moving, but we have to be out by the first. There are so many things happening all at once and I'm really trying not freak out and have a meltdown and scream and cry and eat a lot of chocolate or not eat at all and then feel like I'm going to throw up because it all makes me sick to my stomach.

So really, that's how I'm doing with 2 weeks to our move-out date and no movers are even scheduled yet and there is a chance that I might have to pack us while getting everything ready for VBS on the 23rd.

Look, something shiny...

So while I have been ignoring the huge To-Do list and the creeping calendar dates, we have been having a blast doing all sorts of other things. My parents were here to visit and that was a wonderful break. We went to Tracy Arm and saw the glacier calving. There are pictures of most of this fun for a later date to be shared. We took the fast ferry and spent a couple days in Skagway and then drove over White Pass into Canada, spending a couple of days in Whitehorse. Which was also lovely and they have an actual road that goes somewhere and we decided that living back in the real world might not actually be so bad, especially after having the Best Salad ever. Yes, we are very easily entertained nowadays.

So my parents went away on the airplane and we took lots of naps because we realized that we had been very busy. And then it was the 4th. And it rained and we didn't go camping for the 3 days Fishing Guy was off. I organized and we went to the church BBQ. We skipped the midnight fireworks - last chance and we were OK with that. We went to the parade the next morning and got lots of candy. I also got blisters from wearing flip-flops to show off my patriotic pedicure, but I had cute toes so I guess it evens out.

Then the classroom hamster we were watching began what will be known as "DeathWatch 2007" and she finally died yesterday afternoon. We buried her in the backyard in the pouring rain, while The Prince cried about his "very special to me" rock that was used to carve on my kitchen chairs and that I was going to smash into itsy-bitsy pieces for punishment. Fishing Guy saved the rock, I cooked dinner and then dashed out the door to bible study.

Today I'm totally paying for all the stress I put on myself. I did take about 4 hours out to just hang out with a good friend that is leaving on vacation before we move and won't be back until after we are gone. I'm willing to drop everything else to spend time with the people I'm going to miss the most, but I feel so guilty for not being able to be in all places at once. I'm trying to cut myself some slack.

There's so much more going on and when we've moved and I'm back on the computer because I will try to be a hermit for a while just to recover, I'll post pictures and tell all of the funny stories. I'll even tell the not-funny stories because they will be funny on the other side.

But right now, I need to go fix some dinner and decide if the kids are going to the church for the kid's activity or if they are going straight to bed. Personally, I'd like the sharp pain in my left temple to go away, so I might just lay down and have them make sandwiches for dinner and let Fishing Guy decide to take them or not...
